IT Support Specialist for Nonprofit

Department: ADM - Administration
Location: Los Angeles, CA

COMPENSATION: $55,000 - $100,000 annual depending on education and experience, plus excellent benefits

***This position is on-site 5 days a week in our DTLA office, with occasional local travel to PACE job sites as needed***

ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

PACE was founded in 1976 to provide job training and placement services for the Asian Pacific Islander communities in Los Angeles. PACE has since expanded into a variety of service areas, all tailored to meet the growing and changing needs of the multi-ethnic communities in Los Angeles County. Now, in addition to job training and employment services, significant PACE programs encompass: business development; early childhood education (Head Start); financial education and asset building; housing and rehabilitation services; weatherization and energy-conservation programs; and affordable housing development. PACE serves more than 40,000 people each year with our wide scope of services with approximately 400+ staff. PACE is recognized as a leader in addressing problems of poverty and economic inequity in ethnic minority communities and has a reputation of being responsive to community needs and is known for creating innovative solutions to the myriad of challenges faced by our clients.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

PACE is seeking a motivated and experienced IT Support Specialist to join the team. The IT Support Specialist will provide level one end user tech support for hardware, peripherals, mobile devices and phones, software applications, and network access, and will troubleshoot all technology related issues. The IT Support Specialist will monitor IT dashboard, email spam filter, log incident tickets, resolve issues and escalate when appropriate. Candidate will refer risks to IT security & server contractor and work with contractor to troubleshoot issues. Other duties include imaging new computers; following e-waste procedures; travelling to local PACE offices and locations; assisting with hardware pricing; updating technical documentation; presenting IT resources to staff and working on additional IT related requests as needed.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Proficient in Windows and macOS environments with strong software and hardware troubleshooting skills in:

  • Active Directory administration
  • Troubleshooting email client issues (MS Outlook – client and browser-based)
  • DFS connection troubleshooting
  • Computer provisioning - Knowledge of Apple (JAMF) deployment and Windows (Windows Deployment Services) services (is a plus)
  • Remote administration – Splashtop and RDP
  • Working with ticketing systems and within a workflow
  • Working knowledge of iOS and Android OS
  • Exchange Online – power shell scripting (is a plus)
  • Exchange/Office 365 administration
  • Windows services environment experience – Active Directory, File Services, Permission management. DHCP, AD, VPN, Print and file services
  • VPN using the following technologies (SonicWall, Windows VPN)
  • Screen Capture and edit tools (SnagIt and Adobe)
  • In-depth knowledge of Outlook configuration, deployment and recovery
  • Basic knowledge of network infrastructure – switches, port allocation, POE, patching, data drops, sub-netting, etc.
  • Wi-Fi WAP allocation and troubleshooting – Wi-Fi WAP allocation and troubleshooting Ubiquiti

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field. Work experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • Some experience in IT Support role or similar is required
  • Certifications related to this position is a plus but not required.
  • A service-oriented attitude and strong communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for collaborating with team members, sharing knowledge and finding solutions
  • Attention to detail and conscientious approach
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handling multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Strong computer skills, Word, Excel, Power Point, Graphics and Data Management
  • Utilization of critically thinking skills to identify cost-saving opportunities, resolve issues and design short and long term performance strategies
  • Ability to work well independently and within team environment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must pass employment and professional reference/verification.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination including drug and alcohol screening.
  • COVID vaccination required; must have two-dose series of Pfizer or Moderna or a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson. Those that need a medical or religious exemption must reach out separately.
  • Must have a valid Drivers License, adequate automobile insurance coverage and an automobile in working condition; local travel to job sites will required as needed.
  • As this position will be required to occasionally work at PACE Early Head Start sites, candidate must satisfy the following additional requirements prior to start of employment:
    • Must pass the following background checks prior to start of employment:
      • Sex Offender Registry
      • Child Abuse and Neglect State Registry
      • State or Tribal Criminal History Check, including fingerprints
      • FBI Criminal History Check, including fingerprints (Livescan)
    • Must have verification of T.B. clearance at time of employment, to be renewed every four (4) years (every 4 years for chest x-rays).
    • Must pass health screening (LIC 503) at time of employment, health screening is accepted within one year prior to hire, to be renewed every four (4) years.
    • Provide proof of the following immunizations as required: Measles, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), and Influenza.
