Work Experience - Office Assistant

Department: WIOA - Work Source Division

Compensation: $20.00 per hour

PACE has partnered with Healing Urban Barrios (HUB) to offer an exciting work experience opportunity. The individual will be hired by PACE and gain work experience at Healing Urban Barrios as an OFFICE ASSISTANT. The position will be based Healing Urban Barrios' (HUB) office located at address:161 S. SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Community Intervention Worker, the Office Assistant must be able to work within the Gang Injunction Zone. The Office Assistant will be responsible for identifying individuals named in the Rodriguez Settlement and assisting them in processing a claim through the Los Angeles Reconnections Career Academy (LARCA) program. Applicant will receive training to understand the Rodriguez Settlement and the benefits claimants may be entitled to receive. The Office Assistant will screen for eligibility, help eligible claimants complete a claim form, and communicate with

LARCA program staff to ensure that claimants receive the benefits and services they are eligible for. The Office Assistant will work with the Community Intervention Worker to provide quality wrap-around services to Rodriguez Settlement claimants. The Office Assistant will attend HUB program meetings, community events, and related events and activities. The Office Assistant will collaborate with partner agencies to secure additional resources and services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Clerical and administrative support
  • Front-desk management (greeting visitors, tours)
  • Data entry, document preparation, and filing
  • Mail handling and office supply management
  • Light custodial tasks (copy room, snack room, lounge)
  • Event and workshop assistance
  • Holiday and event decorating
  • Team support and flexibility

JOB QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Candidate must be able to perform Essential Functions as listed above
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required; must have two-dose series of Pfizer or Moderna or a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson. Those that need a medical or religious exemption must reach out separately.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Compensation is $20.00 per hour.
  • This position is a temporary work experience/job training opportunity. This position will end once you reach 400 hours maximum.
  • The work schedule varies from agency to agency, but the expectation is not to exceed 40 hours per week. There are no benefits tied to training positions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

These physical demands represent the requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions. While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods, talk, and hear. The employee will frequently use their hands and fingers to operate a computer, handle documents, and perform data entry. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, and lift or move items up to 25 lbs. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision for reading documents and working on a computer.
